Golf swing follow through
If there is one single thing that can be taught to any amateur golfer, it should be a good and consistent follow through on a consistent basis on their swing. I say “goodâ€, but in reality an unconventional follow through will likely produce a better result than one that has no follow through at all. There seems to be a misconception among those who do not use a follow through that they can somehow alter the ball in someway after the ball has left the club. In reality, you can not and you are better off ensuring that you are not losing energy that you could be giving to the ball before you ever hit it with your club.
Here are some of the most important elements to having a good golf swing follow through:
1: How you finish with your hands.
Have you ever taken some time to evaluate where your hands finish once you are done with your swing? They should be high. This is an indication that you have pushed through the ball and that you did not stop your swing before it ever started. If your hands are finishing below your left shoulder, then you are either swinging to flat, or you may be excessively using your wrists.
2: How your right should finishes
At the same time, you should not have your right shoulder above your left. In fact, this would be a good indication that you did not pull the face of the club across at all, but rather you have just hit straight through.
3: How your head is positioned.
You should ensure that your head is faced downward and perhaps slightly tilted just so that you can watch the flight of the ball out of your left eye, assuming you are right handed. This is referred to as “staying down on the ballâ€. A consistent posture in your swing is vital and this is a healthy indication of whether you have good posture in your golf swing.
